"I think differently about the things I eat now. I learned to make sure there is protein involve to keep me satisfied and from being hungry all the time."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Learn the exchange program and don't be afraid to use it."

"I have learned to listen to my body and I know what I need to do. Patience, time, and discipline will get you to where you want to be. It doesn't happen overnight. I learned how simple it is to be healthy and still have yummy meals. It's not as hard as people think."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Food prep is essential and makes your life so much easier. It WILL work. Just listen to Kristy and trust her. It takes time, patience, and discipline, but in the end you will love your results!"
April Allen
"I am definitely a lot more aware of foods, timing of meals, and I realize I don't drink nearly enough water! I know I like lots of different foods that I wouldn't eat before my training. I learned so much, but learning how to become disciplined wias huge for me."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Just stay on top of it, always meal prep, and take it one day at a time. Do the best you can do!"
Alexis Schmid, Miss Utah International 2014
"When Kristy Jo agreed to be my sponsor for the Miss International pageant, she was very clear that not only was she sponsoring me as a trainer, but she also wanted me to follow her Power Foods Lifestyle. I have learned so much since working with Kristy Jo! Her book, The Power Foods Lifestyle, is easy, fun reading that makes it clear why you want to eat healthy and that putting good 'fuel' into your body is important for it to function at its best!" "I have learned so much through this journey that has only just begun. I have learned to control myself and have much more self discipline. I am the one that is in control. The most important principle is being able to master my mind and be able to have self control. It is the most incredible feeling to be in control of myself."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Never give up. At times it feels like nothing is changing and you want to give up. It's the tiny bite size goals each day that will lead you to reaching your goal. I would also tell them to trust the plan and follow it exactly."
Sandra Flores
"It's been a long journey of learning and I have loved it. I have learned how to eat healthy and try to make the best choices every day. I learned how to push myself. I get to a comfort zone when working out and don't like the fact that I have to push more in order to get more. Mentally preparing myself for a hard day or thinking of the end results makes me want to work for it.
Advice to someone just beginning: "Good things don't come easily. Things will progressively come easier. If you signed up for it, that's what you need, so work hard."

"I started living the Power Foods Lifestyle 10 months ago. It has changed my life and my relationship with food. I have learned to use food for fuel and when I eat strategically and follow this lifestyle, I have plenty of energy to do everything I want. I'm never stuffed full, I'm never hungry, my blood sugar doesn't spike, and my food cravings are very minimal--if any at all. I have seen my body change in ways I never imagined possible and I see no other way to live for the rest of my life. This is a lifestyle that I can maintain forever.
Advice to someone just beginning:" My advice for anyone as they start to live and adapt to this lifestyle is to be patient...change does not happen overnight. Be persistent. Everyday you do this it gets easier and easier. It will be worth every ounce of effort you put into it. It has forever changed me and it can you too."

"From practical experience I have seen first-hand the IMMENSE benefits that come from Kristy's three tiered approach to a healthier lifestyle. When I originally approached Body Buddies to improve my body and life, I came from a lot of frustration trying other programs. Many of the programs I had previously tried kept selling me on how little effort was required on my part...."Just try this pill"! "Just drink this supplement!" etc.... and I wasn't really getting anywhere. Fortunately, I was able to meet, talk, and observe Kristy's "Body Buddy" approach, and I was hooked! I realized something, Body Buddies has something that most of these other health programs out there don't have.... a three-element approach: Physical, Mental, and Spiritual improvements! These improvements, when combined, can change not only your body, but your whole persona into a far more attractive YOU! I was truly touched by Kristy's insistence on weekly accountability calls, motivational emails/texts, and her experienced advice in crafting my custom weekly food/workout plans. I saw incredible results as I changed my attitude about what I fed my body, how intensely I worked out, and most importantly, the REASON I was doing all of this.... to be the best ME I can be! I would unwaveringly recommend Body Buddies to anyone who wants to revitalize and enhance their entire persona, because with Kristy, you and your body KNOW from day 1 of her program that you're on the right path! Let's get to work!"

"I have a much healthier outlook on food and exercise. Now that I have a set of guiding principles, I can approach each day with a healthy mindset. You don't have to starve yourself or be hungry to lose weight. You also don't have to exist on a diet of tuna and salad."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Stick with it. If you learn and apply the principles, it will become second nature and won't feel like you are on a diet or a program."
Kate Lundquist
"I loved the four weeks I trained and I found I wasn't afraid of pushing myself.I gained so much more confidence in knowledge of food, what works for my body, and a training regimine. Diet AND training go hand in hand. You can eat healthy, feel satisfied and not deprived at ALL. It takes dedication. I know I came into this with the right attitude and mindset. I know now that just because I didn't have a perfect day, then week, didn't really need to divert me from goal and I just would need to KEEP GOING no matter what."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Be determined with your plan, but do not let it get in your head that you still cannot finish strong.

"I have grown so much. I gained knowledge of what food is good for me as well as how to put it together to benefit my body and mind. I now look at food as energy/fuel to get me going--not as any enemy of life. I have always thought food was the bad guy. But I was way wrong. It was my knowledge that was the enemy at the time."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Always prep your food. Food prep saved me so many times throughout my program. Only meausre your food the first week or two then learn by eyeing the food. Most important, don't let yourself get in the way of what you truly want!
Melinda Phillips
"I realized that I was an emotional eater. I always thought I was, but did not realize to the true extend that how much I emotionally relied on food. I realized that when we are not fully "in control" in one aspect of our lives, we can usually find other places that we need to work on too. Growth and change happens slowly and as long as we are progressing, that is the most important thing. I feel like the small changes that were made on a daily basis, combined to give me the strength and growth that I needed. I went into this knowing I would not be perfect on the plan and that it was OK to make the wrong choice, but chalk it up as a bad choice and move on to make better choices the rest of the day."
Advice to someone just beginning: "You are in control. Not the food, not the emotion, not anything. Food prep is EVERYTHING!"
Whitney Gardner
"I feel as though I have grown so much through the process of my training with Kristy. I am amazed at how much my willpower has increased. That was probably my main focus for this program. I generally liked eating healthy (although I didn't quite know how to eat strategically) but I just couldn't seem to stay on course throughout the whole week, or day for that matter! I would quickly give in to a dessert if my day had gone rough or want to reward myself with food for making in through the day with all my children alive ;). After my training, however, I feel like I am finally a master of myself. It takes baby steps, but having Kristy there with me the whole way I was able to have the support I needed to build on my willpower."
Advice to someone just beginning: "This takes TIME! You won't see your results day by day but they will come week by week or even monthly. You are changing even if you can't see it based on how your body looks though. Maybe your willpower is growing stronger, you were able to turn down a doughnut today, or maybe your knowledge has increased. Good things take time. Also, learn to enjoy the journey. Relish in your successes of the DAY. Don't keep looking forward to the end result. Hopefully there is no end result, hopefully you continue to push your self for a better you everyday even if you are done training."
Andy Easton
"Physically speaking I gained quite a bit of mass in four short weeks but more than that I have gained an understand of my body and what it needs. I haven't felt this good in quite some time. I think every principle learned carries a certain weight with it but for me the most important was one meal, one workout, one day at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither am I. Slowly but surely this lifestyle change will stick. From the get go I committed to do this. "It's only four weeks, I can handle four weeks" became my mantra. Every time something got hard I would lather, rinse, repeat this and it worked...I survived. I guess if I had to choose though I would've been in a bit better shape beforehand because Kristy kicked my butt early on."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Tired of starting over? Don't quit. If this journey was smooth everyone would do it. One setback doesn't mean quit it means get back up and try it again."
Annie Isley
"I realized that my will power and determination was and could be a lot stronger then I ever gave myself credit for. That would have to be the biggest change I saw in myself during this process. I have a much better understanding about the foods that should be going in my mouth. I learned what I was doing wrong in the past and how easy it really is to lose weight.
Advice to someone just beginning: "Stick to it. Don't give up no matter what. You have to make the commitment to yourself and make the decision to do what it is going to take. Otherwise, it's going to take a LOT longer to reach your goals."
Alyse Allan
"I know that I can do it! Something actually works for me and that gives me hope! I learned that I can have the body I have always wanted!"
Advice to someone just beginning: "Follow the program to the tee. Drink lots of water!"
Maigan Balle
"I have gained so much self control and mental discipline. I have never been so consistent and I am realizing it is because I was crash dieting. This honestly is a lifestyle change--one that is so easy to maintain and not feel deprived on. I learned so much about meal timing and how to put my meals together."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Don't give up. Even if you have one crappy day and blow your meal plan, just get back on track the following day."
Brandyn Sargent
"I have learned to listen to my body. I know what my body is craving and isn't which I couldn't tell before. I also learned that its about consistency. I used to have a bad day and that would throw me off and I would be done and now if I have a "slip" up then oh well do better tomorrow."
Advice to someone just beginning: "FOOD PREP! If you put the time and effort into your food prep staying true is SO much easier!."
Abby Wright
"I've learned how fueling my body is how I take care of it and live my life as opposed to random foods here and there. I've learned my body CAN change from what I always thought was impossible. That I am the only one who can change me. I am completely in charge of how I look and feel."
Advice to someone just beginning: "Stick with it! You will see changes quickly but you'll feel them sooner and that will motivate you."
Linda Ellison
"I had such a positive experience working and learning with Kristy. Some of the things I learned were the importance of correct ratio of carbs to protein and correct portion size. Eating smaller meals more frequently has been a learning experience. By doing these two simple improvements, I lost my desire for fast food and cravings have dropped to almost nil. I was able to get through the Holidays without any weight gain and am getting back on track so I can start seeing weight loss again. The most exciting thing for me is how much better I feel by eating healthy foods. I am fortunate that I enjoy fruits and vegetables and now know how to combine proper amounts in my meal planning. I would recommend Kristy to anyone wanting to make a permanent life style change. It is not as hard as some might think. Give it a try, just a few short days of staying on the program and then it becomes a way of life."
