Hi Body Buds!
It’s that dreaded time of month and if you’re like me…it’s ROUGH! I am not a doctor but I have experienced endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and menstrual cycles from the devil himself! I have learned a few tricks that work for me that might help you as well:

WHAT TO EAT
I crave everything sweet and greasy around this time, yet those are the very things that make me feel more bloated, gross and can lead to breakouts.
Instead, I have ½ cup of raw fruit with every meal. Yep, even right before bed because having some fruit rather than a box of chocolates or a large serving of French fries is a much better option!
Any form of fruit is great but I have found that the fruits higher in the glycemic index help curve that sweet tooth. Pineapple, mango, banana, and apricots are candy to my sweet tooth! They are filled with natural sugars that won’t make you have that gross feeling. If you are trying to lose fat, berries will be a more strategic option, however I recommend having a consultation or being coached by one of the Body Buddies coaches for the best option for your body!
Keep your vegetables up as well! In the Power Foods Lifestyle we teach to have a vegetable with every meal. This has helped my skin stay clear and keep break outs to a minimum.
EXERCISE
Exercise is the LAST thing I want to do when I am feeling bloated and having cramps, but it helps! I have found walking, stretching, and yoga work well for lessening the severity of cramps. The inversions performed in yoga will help your cramps “stretch” out.
WATER
Chug it! You might feel like you’re about to pop but the next week you will feel like your gut has been “cleansed.” As coaches, we recommend drinking your body weight in ounces or 1 gallon of water--whichever is more feasible (after working up to it if you are severely underhydrated). Example: 150 lbs = 150 ounces OR 1 gallon (128 ounces).
RELAX
Baths, massages, pedicures, deep breathing and sitting in the sauna are some of my favorite ways to get my body to relax. The more relaxed you can be, the less your belly and back will feel like it’s cramping up.
I hope these tips help you better cope with that wonderful time of the month!
