Backyard BBQ -- What to Take?

Dear Body Buds,
Last night, I was invited to a backyard BBQ. I was told I didn't need to bring anything, so I planned, hoping there would be food there I could eat that were within Power Foods Lifestyle guidelines!
I was elated to arrive at the home and find an array of healthy power foods! Upon hearing what I do for a living in helping all you Buds be healthier and reach your goals, the hosts allowed me to make the guacamole! I used the ingredients they provided and mashed the following up all by hand. I must say, it turned out to be quite yummy! We ate the guac with black bean chips -- yes, that's combining a carb (chips) and a fat (guac), but in smaller portions (with the most key part being the awareness), it was just fine! :)

Fresh Lime Guacamole
2 large avocados
1 Tbsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 handful cherry tomatoes
2 limes, hand squeezed
3 Tbsp. cottage cheese (2%)
1 Serrrano pepper
1/4 c. chopped purple onion
Meanwhile, one of the hosts whipped up this impeccable salad to go with our steak!

Fruit and Feta Salad
6-8 c. leafy greens (spinach, kale, arugula, romaine)
1/2 apple, diced
1 c. blueberries
1/2 c. feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
*drizzled lightly with a balsamic vinaigrette
Thank you to my Alisia Packard for taking this beautiful photographs for me to share! She is a phenomenal photographer in the Salt lake area!
So, Body Buds, the next time you are invited to a backyard barbeque, hold off one the potato chips, jello, and brownies, and take these items instead!
Take it one meal, one workout, and one day at a time! :)
Love your bud,
Kristy Jo
